UAE Pass for Property Owners: Setup, E-Signature, and What It Unlocks

1. What UAE Pass actually is

UAE Pass is the government-issued single sign-on and e-signature service run by the UAE government. It links your Emirates ID to your phone, so government and approved private services can verify you and accept your e-signature as legally binding under Federal Decree-Law No. 46 of 2021 on electronic transactions.

2. Setup — the 10-minute flow

• Download the UAE Pass app from the App Store or Play Store.

4. Using UAE Pass to e-sign a lease

Modern property platforms (TowerDesk, DLD's own e-sign flow, some banks) present the lease as a PDF and prompt you to open UAE Pass. You approve inside UAE Pass with a fingerprint or face scan, and the signed PDF returns with a cryptographic signature block, timestamp, and QR verification. The signature is legally equivalent to a wet signature under Federal Decree-Law No. 46 of 2021.

5. UAE Pass for OA voting and AGM proxies

OA resolutions and AGM proxies signed with UAE Pass are enforceable under both the JOP law and the electronic transactions law. This is how modern Dubai OA managers run remote AGM voting — no more paper proxies collected by porters.

6. Common issues and fixes

• 'Verification failed at kiosk' — usually a fingerprint mismatch; try another kiosk or update your Emirates ID first.
• 'App won't open' — reinstall and re-scan Emirates ID; keeps 30 days of session state.
• 'Can't sign a specific document' — the requesting party may not be UAE Pass-integrated; ask them to check their integration.
